Talking with one lucky lottery winner or couple may seem like a great opportunity to gain insight on how it feels to win and what, if any, setbacks are in store for those who find their numbers filling up a screen. But imagine the possibilities for learning about lottery strategy and coping mechanisms when in the presence of nearly 200 winners! That’s exactly what the UK National Lottery offered to those in attendance at the game’s 15-year anniversary party on, of course, the 15th of November. Celebrating 15 years of bringing hope and excitement to the UK’s lottery players, the group also used the time to sound off about the realities of being a lottery winner, whether good or bad.
Many in attendance noted that their wins had allowed them to take advantage of exciting chances to start a new life –or at least a new chapter. Others discussed how a special purchase, such as a pair of knees for one winner, had made a major difference in their outlook and well-being. Still others made sure to mention that there were distinct challenges in realizing such a sudden and massive windfall. Of course, not every lottery winner has a major bout of spending frenzy, and there were those who had remained living in a relatively simple manner, without the millionaire accoutrements most people associate with the super-wealthy. Happy Anniversary to the UK National Lottery, and may it make new dreams come true for many years to come.

The UK Lottery has recently celebrated its fifteenth year of operation, and among the many festivities that took place across the kingdom, one of the most interesting was perhaps the meeting of the many winners of East of England, a region that has seen the making of over two hundred forty millionaires and multi-millionaires through UK Lottery windfalls. At the event were winners young and old, representing a full spectrum of local towns, as well as a full spectrum of experiences.
Unlike some parts of the world, which offer depressing stories of debauchery and the loss of personal meaning in connection with lottery winnings, the gathering at East of England was decidedly positive, with the majority of winners more than eager to relate their tales of winning to the local press. One couple from Diss noted that while they were monumentally helped by their multiple millions win, putting their children through college, enjoying luxury vacations, and moving into a nice house, they had remained with their perspectives firmly rooted in the earth, a trend which has characterised many UK National Lottery winners.
Plenty of players are crossing their fingers (and toes, and legs, and arms, and, well, don’t cross your eyes for too long, or you won’t be able to read the numbers!) today as the UK National Lottery rolls out a new set of balls, hoping that their own stories will be added to the next local anniversary gathering. Good luck out there!
